Donate a new or gently used book to Boyer and support the new Boyer Book Bridges program!

At Boyer, we recognize how important it is to promote early literacy and school readiness through our programs and services. It has been proven that reading aloud helps children acquire early language skills, and is one of the most important activities leading to language development. There are a variety of other benefits to reading with your child, including:

• The nurturing and one-on-one attention from parents during reading aloud encourages children to form a positive association with books and reading later in life.

• It is one of the best activities to not only stimulate language and cognitive skills, but it also builds motivation, curiosity, and memory.

• It gives children the opportunity to practice listening, a crucial skill for kindergarten and beyond.

Boyer is proud to launch our Book Bridges program, which will provide Boyer families with a book to help nurture their child’s early language development.

“As a nurse at Boyer who conducts home visits, I have had the pleasure of giving books to children or families that do not have a single book. I was able to show the parents the impact of reading out loud to a child. It is extraordinary how much joy this small gift not only brings to the child, but how reading together can build a nurturing, supporting relationship between the child and his or her entire family.”

Community support and book donations will be essential to the Book Bridges program’s ongoing success. Every book received will be gifted to families at their first intake meetings, and will be an important tool as we promote how early literacy can truly help set up a child for success in school and life.
